My name is Maria Diaz Alvarez. I attended Middle Georgia State University, and I graduated in May 2024 with my bachelor’s degree in Respiratory Therapy. I am a single mother of four children, and achieving my goals has been a significant milestone. It would not have been possible without the invaluable assistance and support provided by the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) program. First and foremost, I want to extend my heartfelt thanks to the dedicated staff at the Middle Georgia Consortium, Inc. Your guidance, encouragement, and unwavering support have been instrumental in helping me navigate the various challenges along the way, from helping me pay for my school expenses, gas, and daycare. This program has taught me that no matter how old you are, there are still places out there that can help you reach your dreams. I cannot be thankful enough, and because of this program, I am now a Registered Respiratory Therapist. I am grateful for everyone who has stayed by my side, helped me along the way, and believed in me.
