I would like to start first by thanking the Middle Georgia Consortium for helping me on my journey to success. My “Worked Based Learning” teacher, Sandy Couillard, from Northside High School referred me to the Middle Georgia Consortium. I contacted the Middle Georgia Consortium to get information on how to apply and what the eligibility requirements would be. Of course, I met the eligibility criteria and was eligible to enter the program. I was enrolled in the Workforce Investment Program (WIA) Work Experience Program and began working at the Middle Georgia Consortium on October 12, 2012 as an Office Assistant. I graduated from Northside High School on May 23, 2013 as scheduled and the Assistant Director at that time, Lonnie Slater, advised me that it would be great for me to transfer to the Georgia Department of Labor where better job opportunities would be available. I transferred to the Georgia Department of Labor on February 16, 2015 where I worked at the front desk as a Receptionist. While working at the Georgia Department of Labor I was also attending Central Georgia Technical College working towards a degree in the Business Management Program. While working at the Georgia Department of Labor a position became available as a DOL Services Specialists. I applied for the position and was given the opportunity to interview in July of 2016. I started working at the Georgia Department of Labor full time as a DOL Services Specialist in September 2016. Thank you Middle Georgia Consortium for bringing out the best in me. You have influenced my life for the better. UPDATE: On June 1, 2019, Shantaya was promoted to an Advance Specialist with the Georgia Department of Labor.
