Workforce Training & Training Grants

WorkSource Middle Georgia provides an extraordinary opportunity to transform and improve the needs of any business and offers nationally recognized training grants to help companies compete and grow.

Business Services

On-The-Job Training

On-the-job training (OJT) helps unemployed workers get back to work earning a wage while receiving training. Employers can be reimbursed for up to 50% of employee compensation rates and associated training costs.


Apprenticeships are a proven approach for preparing workers with job-related training with the attainment of national skills standards while also meeting the needs of businesses for a highly skilled workforce. Apprentices can be new hires, or businesses can select current employees who need skill upgrades to join the apprenticeship program.

Skills Training

Customized Skills Training is designed to meet the special requirements of employers by allowing them to tailor and design work-based skills training. Customized training is conducted with a commitment by the employer to hire, or in the case of incumbent workers, to retain, an individual on successful completion of the training. Employers may be reimbursed by the WIOA program for not more than 50% of the costs incurred in providing the training, including staff/instructor time or training materials.

Work Opportunity Tax Credit

Employers are eligible to receive federal tax credit by offering customized training to new or current employees. The Georgia Department of Labor (GDOL) coordinates the WOTC program which provides employers financial incentives when hiring workers from targeted groups of job seekers by reducing an employer’s federal income tax liability. The tax credit ranges from $1,200 to $9,600 per qualified employee, depending on the target group.

Rapid Response

If you anticipate your company downsizing or closing its doors, contact WorkSource Middle Georgia immediately. The Rapid Response team assists businesses by providing resources and on-site visits that will help minimize the disruptions associated with a job loss.

The Workforce Division and its partners provide a variety of services to assist companies and dislocated workers. These services help workers return to work quickly with job search assistance, education, and training options. A rapid response team organized quickly can develop the state and local resources tailored to the needs of workers. For large numbers, services may be provided in onsite or freestanding transition centers.
